Help them Find a House

Typically the government helps refugees find a house and provides rent for three months. They pay individuals to welcome them and get them settled. There are also some private refugee resettlement agencies like World Relief, a Christian organization, who do this. Many times they are looking for volunteers who will help.

Show them where to look for rentals. Help them find safe neighborhoods.

Help them think it through in relation to work, shopping, and children’s schooling. The school district associated with certain housing can make a huge difference in the quality of education for the children.

An Adventist family that is involved with refugee work in Tennessee enjoyed helping a refugee family search out the right home outside of the city in a place that was much more economical, safer, and in a neighborhood of caring, Christian people.
